Using SeqWeb, Web/HTTP access to a large subset of GCG command line programs is available to BIMCORE Sequence Analysis subscribers. (See Instructions on becoming a member) The SeqWeb interface is served from the BIMCORE GCG UNIX server "jeeves.bimcore.emory.edu" and can be accessed by following the URL http://jeeves.bimcore.emory.edu:8082 (click here) An existing user account is required to use this resource. Advantages: Seqweb provides a simple web interface to a core set of sequence analysis programs in the GCG Wisconsin Package. Users may use their browsers (see Requirements section) to upload a variety of sequence file formats directly from the desktop such as FastA, GenBank, EMBL, Staden, PIR, and SwissProt. Each program in SeqWeb presents a condensed list of program parameters, each with a default answer already assigned (except for the input file). There is no need to memorize command-line syntax. Disadvantages: Supports only a subset of all GCG commands. Must use your desktop browser to check and retrieve results. Job submission can be slow during hours of network congestion. Getting an Account: Send email to wsp@emory.edu requesting a SeqWeb account. You must be a Sequence Analysis member in order to use this resource. System Requirements: Web Browsers
Emory dial-up users are considered to be part of the campus network so access via Emory dialup is possible. Users of non-Emory sponsored dialup will have to provide a static IP# to obtain access to BIMCORE servers. It is possible for all Emory faculty, staff, and students to dialin to Emory services using their "network" id. If you have forgotten it or do not know what it is then please contact the Emory HelpDesk at (404) 727 - 7777 to find out. They can also provide instructions on using "Emory Connect" to dialin to Emory from home. Supported Versions: Version 1.1 under Solaris 8 Documentation: SeqWeb Help is available once you have successfully logged into the system. At any time you
may click the "HELP" icon to receive detailed instructions on how to proceed.
There is also a "Quick Start Guide" available once you successfully log in.
