The GCG / Wisconsin software package is a commercially licensed suite of over 100 programs providing a comprehensive sequence analysis workbench. GCG represents a standard package in the area of sequence analysis. Refer to the vendor site for a complete feature list. The GCG Package includes a comprehensive set of tools for:
GCG programs can be accessed by three different interfaces: command line, over the Web using SeqWeb, or using X-Windows using SeqLab. Each method has advantages and disadvantages so please read the descriptions associated with each to determine the best mode of access for your needs. It is possible to access GCG using any combination of the listed methods. That is, you are not limited to just one method. Command line access is the most flexible, yet least user-friendly. SeqWeb is least complete, yet most user-friendly. SeqLab is user friendly and complete yet requires the installation of software on your desktop. Access over dialup networks is not recommended via SeqLab. Please consult the relevant section to determine your preferred method of access. Contact Steve Pittard for access.
